CLAWS - The Cordless Land-Air Wildlife System

Avian Systems solution for effective control of bird strikes at airports.

CLAWS has been tested and proven to effectively drive birds away from flight paths and other critical areas on-demand. With over three years of successful field operating history and 100% user satisfaction, CLAWS has proven performance. Proven not only in its ability to help minimize the potential BASH problem your operation faces on a day-to-day basis; Claws also helps to reduce manpower requirements for this critical task.

CLAWS will relocate large quantities of birds quickly and effectively, without harm.

  • CLAWS is designed to meet you operational requirements:
  • CLAWS allows you to drive birds away from critical areas, on demand, without delay and without needing to send anyone to the area.
  • Software that is easy to learn, easy to use.
    Requires minimal training.
  • CLAWS operates only when you tell it to, assuring birds will not be flushed into the flight path, and that the birds will not learn to ignore the frightening devices.
  • Easy to install, easy to move, easy to maintain, completely self contained.
  • Component design that meets or exceeds aerodrome standards: remote stations are frangible, wireless communication is digital and VHF use is narrow band compliant.
  • Wireless operation for on-demand, mobile
activation from up to 2 miles away.

HOW DOES CLAWS WORK?

We designed CLAWS for use as an on-demand system. Instead of the automated monitoring and detection incorporated into other Avian Systems products, CLAWS has remote, on demand, firing features that allows you to format and trigger the system from anywhere within two miles of the base units antenna.
As an example, you would set up a number of stations along the runway(s) to be controlled. Each station is self-contained and wireless in operation. In addition to propane cannons, high-powered audio speakers are also included when you incorporate our ASC 3000 remote station. CLAWS is activated when the Control Hub receives a signal from the computer or the wireless hand-held transmitter(s) via the base antenna. The Control Hub then re-transmits the information to fire the selected remote stations. Stations are selected for firing as individuals or in groups as defined by the user.

ASC 1500 Hand Held Transmitter
This rechargeable, battery-operated unit has a 16-key keypad marked for 12 firing groups, plus "All On, "All Off, " and "Selected Off" keys. You may selectively fire cannons in any grouping you define, from any location within the two-mile range of the base antenna.

ASC 1000 CLAWS Control Hub -
The Control Hub serves as the central processing point or nerve center for all activity on the system. It contains a transceiver and a microprocessor for processing signals from the hand-held transmitter(s) and from the control computer the hub then relays those signals to the cannon stations selected.

CLAWS Software -

Avian Systems proprietary software engine has these key features:
  • All activity on the system can be monitored from the main menu screen, including remote firing commands.
  • Firing of any cannon or cannon group can be initiated, tracked, and recorded from the computer keyboard.
  • Up to 32 cannons may be tracked and assigned to any of 12 groups. Hand-held transmitter(s) can also select the groups to be fired after assignment.
  • The auto-scheduler can be programmed for automatic firing of the cannons in any combination or sequence at any time of the day. Each day of the week can be programmed differently.
  • Firing duration is user definable.
  • The stop firing command can be sent to any cannon or cannon group.
  • All firing activity is logged, and stored for later recall and/or printing

ASC 3000 Radio-Controlled, Rotating Cannon Station with Sound -

Remote Station Features

  • Weatherproof station box with a front door to provide easy access.

  • All components reside inside or on the box making it easy to move for relocation or mowing.

  • Construction designed for frangibility.

  • 125 pounds total weight

  • Propane cannon with pressure regulator.

  • Radio receiver and antenna for receiving radio signals from the CLAWS Control hub.

  • Motor driven, rotating propane cannon, which fires every 12-20 seconds during operation.

ASC 3000 Features
  • Two high power, all weather, stereo horn speakers, mounted to the left and right of the cannon. The speakers move with the cannon as it fires to provide maximum effect.
  • 60-watt or 200watt stereo power amplifier
  • Stereo audio system that delivers high quality sound effects designed and proven to enhance the cannons ability to frighten birds. These sound effects include bird distress calls, predator sounds, gunfire, and pyrotechnic sounds. The audio systems operation is controlled by the station receiver, and plays during the firing of the cannon.
  • Large capacity gel cell battery
  • Two optional speakers (for a total of four per unit)

ASC 2000 Radio-Controlled, Rotating Cannon Station

Each solar-powered cannon station consists of the following:

  • Weatherproof station box with a front door to provide easy access.

  • All components reside inside or on the box making it easy to move for relocation or mowing.

  • Construction designed for frangibility.

  • 125 pounds total weight.

  • Propane cannon with pressure regulator.

  • Radio receiver and antenna for receiving radio signals from the CLAWS Control hub.

  • Motor driven, rotating propane cannon that fires every 12-20 seconds during operation.

  • Stand with stakes designed to keep the unit in place during wind gusts and to keep the station box out of any standing water.
  • Requires minimal to no surface preparation for placement.
  • Frangible design to minimize potential flight hazard.
  • Solar panel and battery to power the station allowing for use anywhere.
  • High quality components and assembly assure long, low maintenance usage.
